In this position, you will gain exposure to the unique regulatory approach in the Commission and support the development of policy with the potential to ensure Californians have safe and reliable access to energy. You can expect to interact with decision-makers, advocacy groups, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders as you work to mediate between diverse perspectives on some of California's most pressing safety issues of the day including wildfires, climate change, pipeline safety, and cybersecurity.The PURA V analyst is responsible for analyzing, researching, developing, writing, and proposing policy and technical proposals in support of Safety Policy Division's strategic planning, programs, proceedings, and policies in the areas of Risk Assessment and Safety Analytics. Areas of emphasis involve utility risk assessment, policy development, workshop facilitation, and liaison duties with internal and external stakeholders. The PURA V is expected to provide project leadership as assigned. Incumbent will also examine Commission enforcement plans and procedures and recommend adjustment as necessary.Working ConditionsThis advertisement is listed specifically for San Francisco (LA, SF, SAC) location.           • The candidate will demonstrate knowledge of risk assessment principles, trends and issues pertaining to public utilities and public utility regulation; principles of program evaluation and planning; principles and concepts of economics, econometrics, and finance in a research setting; public utilities regulatory policy analysis and formulation; Federal and State agencies involved in utilities regulation; Federal and State legislation and policies pertaining to public utilities. Experience with CPUC rate-setting and rule-making proceedings is preferred.
